Anti-slip socks, what can you use them for and why?

Anti-slip socks are socks with anti-slip properties on the sole and sometimes also on the toes. Why would you use these socks instead of socks without anti-slip properties? The reason is simple: they prevent slipping on smooth surfaces. Since more and more people have parquet, laminate, linoleum, or tiles in their homes these days, socks with extra grip are desirable.
