MEET THE SHAKTI SPIKE MAT:
EXPERIENCE DEEP RELAXATION AND WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE BUYING A SHAKTI MAT
Do you suffer from stiff and tense muscles, sleep restlessly, have trouble relaxing, and could use some peace of mind? Then a Shakti nail mat is the solution for you!
A Shakti nail mat has many uses. It brings relaxation, recharges you, and reduces pain. Using a nail mat is incredibly easy. Simply lie, sit, or stand on your Shakti nail mat, and the rest will take care of itself! Because the nail mat stimulates the energy pathways in your body, your energy flows better and your body's self-healing capacity is activated.
The "sharp" pressure points prick your skin when you lie on the mat. This stimulates the numerous nerve endings in your skin, activating blood circulation. Curious about what a Shakti mat can do for you? Then read on!
What is a nail mat?
To understand what Shakti nail mats do, we'll take you back to the beginning. Nail mats have a history dating back thousands of years. Their origins lie in India, where traveling fakirs performed impressive feats such as charming snakes, swallowing swords, and lying on beds of nails. This served as proof of their yoga practice, demonstrating control over body and mind. Fortunately, using a Shakti nail mat is much more accessible. You don't have to be an experienced yogi; even if you've never done yoga before, you can use this mat and reap both physical and mental benefits.
But it's used for much more than just yoga! Spike mats are often seen as a popular alternative therapy for pain relief, relaxation, and promoting a good night's sleep. This is largely because these mats stimulate the production of endorphins and oxytocin, natural "feel-good" hormones that contribute to a positive sense of well-being. Besides promoting these hormones, the spike mat also optimizes circulation, relieves energy blockages, relaxes muscles, reduces pain, and promotes both physical and mental relaxation.

Choose the best intensity for the best Shakti experience
Since the Shakti Mat's launch in 2007, many imitations have emerged, but few have the same standards and values. Shakti Mats are made of GOTS-certified organic cotton and non-toxic dyes, a thin layer of polyurethane foam, and recyclable ABS plastic spikes. The mats are available in three different intensities: Light, Original and AdvancedYou can also opt for the luxury version of the Original version; the NiryasaFoam. But what makes these intensities so different? Here's an overview:
-
Shakti Mat Light (yellow): With 8,000 spikes, this mat is ideal for people who are sensitive to pressure or want a gentle acupressure experience.
-
Shakti Original (orange, black or green): This mat with 6,000 spikes is recommended for 90% of users. If the descriptions of neither the Light nor the Advanced Shakti Mat apply to you, the Original is an excellent starting point.
-
Shakti Advanced (Indigo): This mat is an upgrade for all Spike Mat veterans looking for a more intense experience. With only 4,000 spikes, the Advanced Mat is suitable for those with a high pain threshold, deep tissue massage enthusiasts, or those who have been using the Shakti Mat Original for six months or more.

How do you use a Shakti nail mat?
Lying on your back on the nail mat is very beneficial. Breathe deeply and feel the energy flow through your body as tension eases. There are also many pressure points under your feet. Stand on the nail mat or sit on a chair with your feet up to stimulate these points. Roll up the nail mat and place it under your back or shoulders; special nail mat cushions are ideal for this. For example, place such a cushion on your neck while relaxing on the couch and watching Netflix.
Building up the use of the Shakti nail mat
Using a nail mat can take some getting used to at first because of the sharp spikes. So don't just flop down on it; lie down carefully. Start at the end of the mat and gently roll back. Although it may feel uncomfortable at first, you'll soon feel warmth flowing through you and experience the positive effects of your Shakti nail mat. To reduce any initial discomfort, try the following:
- Place your Shakti spike mat on a soft surface, such as a bed or sofa, to feel less pressure from the spikes.
- Wear a T-shirt. If this isn't enough, feel free to put on extra clothing while you get used to it.
- Gradually increase the time you spend on the nail mat. Start with ten minutes and increase as you get used to it.
- Once you're used to your Shakti nail mat, place it on a hard surface and lie on it with your bare skin for maximum effect. Try to hold it for half an hour and repeat several times a day if possible.
