Pilates, what is it?
Pilates is a fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. He called his method "Contrology" because he believed his exercises used mental abilities to control muscles. The method emphasizes the muscles that ensure the body is properly balanced and support the spine.
Pilates is therefore an effective body workout. Joseph Pilates himself created a series of exercises that are practiced in a fixed order by certain methods, but not by others. Joseph Pilates observed that people's posture was suffering due to modern work conditions and stress. Joseph Pilates believes a healthy spine is important. He himself said, "You are as old as your spine." You can do it in a studio, but also very easily at home! Here you can see how best to follow Pilates classes at home.
